Where to Park, Shop and Dine in the Saint Louis Airport
About St. Louis Lambert International Airport
St. Louis Lambert International Airport (STL) is located 14 miles northwest of downtown St. Louis, Missouri. Commonly referred to as Lambert Field or Lambert, the facility was officially named Lambert–St. Louis Flying Field in honor of Albert Bond Lambert, an Olympic silver medalist golfer in the 1904 summer games. In 1925, the airport became home to Naval Air Station St. Louis.
Designed by Minoru Yamasaki, the building inspired terminals at John F. Kennedy International Airport in New York City and Charles de Gaulle Airport in Paris, France.
In 2023, nearly 15 million passengers traveled through the airport. STL sees 259 peak daily departures to 78 nonstop domestic and international locations. Lambert is often referred to as a reliever hub for the American Airlines hubs at Chicago O'Hare and Dallas/Fort Worth.
In early 2017, Lambert began to renovate four unused gates in Concourse D and renamed them as E gates. As of April 2019, Southwest Airlines is the dominant carrier at STL, accounting for over 62% of passengers over the previous 12-month time period.
Other carriers flying through STL include Air Choice One, Alaska Airlines, American Eagle, Boutique Air, Cape Air, Delta Air Lines, Delta Connection, Frontier Airlines, Spirit Airlines, United Airlines, and United Express.
