A civil-military public airport three miles southeast of the downtown area, the Phoenix Sky Harbor International Airport (PHX) is Arizona’s largest and busiest airport, and among the largest commercial airports in the U.S. In 2019, PHX served 46,288,337 passengers. PHX covers 3,400 acres at an elevation of 1,135 ft. The airport has three parallel concrete/grooved runways.

The airport’s private airplane area is one of eight service centers for the Medevac Airline Air Evac.

PHX has 106 active aircraft gates in three terminals. The airport is the sixth largest hub for American Airlines, with over 250 daily departures to 102 destinations in 5 countries. The airline employs over 9,500 people in Phoenix. American Airlines passengers accounted for more than 46 percent of all PHX travelers as of 2019. PHX is also one of the largest operating bases for Southwest Airlines with 188 daily departures to 53 cities across the U.S.

 Nursing stations are located in Terminal 2 near the men's room in the walkway between the ticket counters and checkpoint, in Terminal 3 at the baggage claim elevators on Level 5 (pre-security) and on Level 4 across from Gate F5 (post-security), and in Terminal 4 next to the family restroom on Level 3, next to the family restroom on the upper level of gates B15-22, directly after passing through Security Checkpoint D, and on the north end of the A17-30 concourse.

Phoenix Airport Museum (3800 E Sky Harbor Blvd, Phoenix, AZ 85034) - The Airport Museum is connected to the main part of the airport. The museum’s Aviation History Collection features artifacts related to the Sky Harbor, Deer Valley and Goodyear airport community and aims to share important achievements in Arizona air transport. 

Chase Field (401 E Jefferson St, Phoenix, AZ 85004) - Chase Field is home to the MLB’s Arizona Diamondbacks. Formerly known as Bank One Ballpark, the field first opened in 1998 and is a favorite destination for Phoenix area baseball lovers. (3.2 miles from PHX) 

Phoenix Zoo (455 N Galvin Pkwy, Phoenix, AZ 85008) - The Phoenix Zoo is the largest privately owned, non-profit zoo in the United States. With nearly 1,400 animals and over 2.5 miles of trails to tour, animal and nature lovers will delight in all the zoo has to offer. (4.8 miles from PHX)
