How to submit: Essay submissions must be 500 words or less. All entries must be electronically sent to scholarship@theparkingspot.com

• Full name
• Phone number
• Address
• Proof of high school GPA. A current, complete high school transcript of grades must be included. Unofficial transcripts must include the student’s name, school name, grades and all credit hours for each course.
• Proof of college acceptance including a letter from admissions or acceptance letter on a school letterhead

Eligibility & Selection Process

To be eligible for The Parking Spot Scholarship:

  • You must be a legal U.S. resident.
  • You must be a current high school student with a cumulative high school GPA of 3.0 or higher on a 4.0 scale, or the equivalent.
  • You must plan to enroll in an accredited two- or four-year college, university or vocational-technical school in the United States in 2021.
  • You must not be a current The Parking Spot employee or directly related to an employee.
  • Your Entry must be received by May 31, 2021. Entries received after the deadline will not be considered.

The scholarship winner will be selected by a Scholarship Committee representing the various functional areas from The Parking Spot corporate team. Essays will be evaluated based on the following consideration: creativity (50%), writing quality (40%), and academic performance (10%). In the event of a tie, the Entry with the highest creativity score will be deemed the winner. All decisions of the Scholarship Committee are final.

Following the application deadline, the winner of the scholarship will be notified by phone, email and/or US mail by July 31, 2021. One applicant will receive a scholarship.

Scholarship Award Distribution and Usage of Monies

The $1,000 award will be paid by The Parking Spot directly to the winner’s school by November 30, 2021. The award winner understands that the usage of award monies will be used for tuition-related expenses only. The award winner must notify The Parking Spot of any changes in address, school enrollment or other relevant information. Award winner will be asked to participate in marketing related to the award, but will have no other obligation to The Parking Spot.

By participating, except where prohibited by law, you: (a) irrevocably grant The Parking Spot, its agents, licensees, and assigns the unconditional and perpetual (non-exclusive) license to reproduce, encode, store, copy, transmit, publish, post, broadcast, display, publicly perform, adapt, modify, create derivative works of, exhibit, and otherwise use your Entry as-is or as-edited (with or without using your name) in any media throughout the world for any purpose, without limitation, and without additional review, compensation, or approval from you or any other party; (b) forever waive any rights of copyrights, trademark rights, privacy rights, and any other legal or moral rights that may preclude Sponsor’s use of your Entry, or require any further permission for Sponsor to use the Entry; and (c) agree not to instigate, support, maintain, or authorize any action, claim, or lawsuit against Sponsor on the grounds that any use of the Entry, or any derivative works, infringes any of your rights as creator of the Entry, including, without limitation, copyrights, trademark rights, and moral rights.

Taxes and fees, if any, are the sole responsibility of prize winners. All prize winners, as a condition of winning, may be required to complete and return to The Parking Spot a W-9 form (where applicable); all prizes will be reported on an IRS Form 1099 reflecting the value of the individual’s prize (where applicable).

By entering this scholarship competition, you release and hold harmless The Parking Spot, and its advertising or promotion agencies or business partners involved with or retained to provide services in connection with the scholarship, and/or each of their respective affiliates, parent or related entities, subsidiaries, or successors (collectively, the "Promotion Entities"), against any and all claims, demands and liabilities arising out of or relating to the scholarship contest, including, without limitation, winner's responsibility for, use or misuse of any scholarship or any portion thereof. Additionally, by acceptance of prize, prize winner agrees to release the Promotion Entities from any and all liability, claims or actions of any kind whatsoever for injuries, damages or losses to persons and property which may be sustained in connection with the receipt, ownership or use of the prize.

The Parking Spot reserves the right to review the conditions and procedures of this scholarship program and to make changes at any time, including termination of the program.

2020 Scholarship

The Parking Spot launched their annual scholarship in 2020. Takier George was the first recipient. She won scholarship funds to attend Howard University.
