Make the most out of this exciting holiday by travelling to one of the many St. Patrick's Day events and parades listed below.

New York City

More than 2 million people flock to the New York City streets to view one of the largest St. Patrick's Day parades in the country. Since 1766, the NYC Saint Patrick's Day Parade has wowed spectators with its spectacular show that is led by the 69th Infantry Regiment and more than 150,000 marchers. Marchers include military groups, local police officers, firefighters, social clubs and more.

New York City also hosts several other St. Patrick's Day events to help people celebrate the entire weekend. Visitors can take the Irish New York Tour, attend the Black Irish Ball, and taste award-winning Irish fare at one of the many popular Irish restaurants in the city.

The dyeing of the Chicago River is one of the most unique St. Patrick's Day traditions. For the past 50 years, nearly 100 pounds of green vegetable dye has been dumped into the Chicago River to turn it a perfect Emerald Isle green in honor of St. Patrick's Day. The dyeing of the river is followed by the famous Chicago St. Patrick's Day Parade. The parade is filled with all things Irish including Irish-inspired floats, bagpipers, marching bands and more.

After the parade, many visitors head over to the Irish American Heritage Center (IAHC) to continue the St. Patrick's Day fun. The IAHC's celebration includes live music, traditional Irish foods, Irish gift shops and tons of activities.

The Greater Boston Area is known to have the largest Irish population in the country, and its St. Patrick's Day celebration shows the true Irish passion that runs through the city. The first American St. Patrick's Day celebration was in Boston in 1737, and the city continues to host one of the largest St. Patrick's Day celebrations in the country. For an entire week, Boston celebrates this holiday with Irish concerts, the annual Gaelic Gourmet Week that features master chefs from Ireland, and the famous South Boston St. Patrick's Day Parade.

The Irish Heritage Trail is another site to visit during St. Patrick's Day. This 20-site journey gives visitors the chance to learn about some of the most important Irish figures and historic events.

From exciting parades to educational opportunities, there is no shortage of St. Patrick's Day events to enjoy. And you don't need the luck of the Irish to have an exceptional airport parking experience.
