Perhaps the most magnificent thing about summer is getting to see nature at its fullest form of life. What captures the vibrancy of summer best may be flowers. Despite the beauty and appeal of flowers, we sometimes get caught up in various fun activities over the summer and forget to take time to relax and soak in the beauty of nature. There are so many great garden and flower festivals around the country, and taking time to enjoy these amazing gifts from Mother Nature could be the perfect way to relax during a busy summer. The Epcot International Flower & Garden Festival doesn’t end until May 19th and visitors will get to see Disney characters, concerts, as well as a garden and children’s area designed around the film: Oz, the Great and Powerful. Chinese Culture Days While this event doesn’t center around flowers, it takes place in one of the largest and most sophisticated botanical research centers in the world, the Missouri Botanical Garden located in St. Louis, Missouri. While enjoying the festival’s activities, which include lion and dragon dancing, acrobatics, and tai chi demonstrations, you can also take in this magnificent collection of flowers that you may not be able to see anywhere else. National Garden Festival Few places around the country get more excited for spring and summer than northern New York, which is why Buffalo is a great place to celebrate flowers and gardens. The National Garden Festival is one of the longest lasting garden festivals in the country, spanning from June 21st until August 4th. Another great feature of this festival is that different exhibits can be reached via walking, biking or taking a bus, which makes everything easily accessible. Show of Summer Coordinated by the Chicago Botanic Garden, The Show of Summer features six Chicago-area garden clubs that compete in the exhibition My Kind of Town. Those who go will find flower arrangement, photography, and horticulture classes as well as several other activities. Participating clubs include the Garden Club of Barrington, Garden Club of Evanston, Garden Guild of Winnetka, Kenilworth Garden Club, Lake Forest Garden Club and Winnetka Garden Club.
